How do the FADS searches work?

We have 4 types of profile searches including :

• Search matches
  This search feature is set up to search all matches (based on profile and cupid settings only) in our database that are in the same "Country" as you are. This will not return matches that are in other countries, and only matches that match you cupid profile, (and who's cupid profile you match) will be returned.
• Search by handle
  This is for searches where you know the handle of the person/s you are seeking. There are no restrictions to this search, and profile matching is not considered at all. As such if you know the handle of another person you can find this handle even if you do not match in profile and cupid settings.
• Search by City
  This is a search refinement feature, however it should be noted that you can still only be matched to members that are in the same "Country" as you are, so there would be no point to search for members that are in a different country. Eg if you are in USA you can not use this feature to search Paris, France.
• Search using the "criteria" search
  As you may recall, when you set up your cupid settings, there is a setting where you can elect whether you wish to limit your profile visibility to matches only, or whether anyone can see you. For this search only, profiles where this setting is set "for all to see" will be found, if they match the searched criteria selection. As such in this search the other cupid setting has no impact on what you will find, but only the criteria set by you for the specific search will be used to decide results of your search.

What is considered a match in my searches?

Our system is designed to ensure that only members that you want, will be able to find you. eg. You are a Female seeking Females (cupid setting). If your profile is set like this, Males would not be able to find you, unless they already have your handle. Similarly of course you will also only find Females in your searches (not couples, not males, not anything else, only females. Also only females that are looking for females.) This way you do not end up wasting your time wading through unwanted profiles, and it is not likely that you will be bothered by an unwanted profile (unless the member lied on their profile).

As such when you create you profile, it is extremely important that you are honest about what you are, and secondly, make sure that you select what you want accurately, as you will not be found by (and will not be able to search for) members that do not match your profile.

How do I get in the top ten on searches?

There is no specific way for you to get into the top ten results on the searches. However, our search engine is designed to rotate the results so that everyone, oldest and newest members, will get a chance in the top ten on a regular basis. So no need to worry about it, you will be there every rotation.

How do I contact other members?

The first step to contacting another member is to search and find a member's profile. Once you have done so view the profile. This is possible by clicking on the button "VIEW PROFILE" on the individual search result that you wish to view. At the bottom of every profile view page you are able to select from a few options to wink to this member. To make first contact with this member select a wink and send it.

At this point your wink message will be transmitted to this member, who will then be able to view your profile (directly by link from the wink message) and after viewing your profile, this member will then be able to decide if he / she / they wish to reply. If they decide to reply they can then transmit a message back to you through the message center, and communication has been started. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT MORE THAN 3 WINKS TO ONE MEMBER IS CONSIDERED SPAM, AND WILL NOT BE TOLERATED BY FADS Besides you will probably just end up annoying the member and they will then simply block you, which would make it impossible for you to even wink at them, never mind communicate with them.

I am traveling. How do I find matches where I am going?

There is only one way to get matches in a different country to what you are located, and that is to change your country setting to the country your are planning to visit.

To do this go to "Play Central" and click on the "Update profile info" button. Change your country to the country you are traveling to, and then update this information. Now you will be able to search in the selected country.

IMPORTANT : please remember to change your country setting back to your living country, else no one in your country will be able to find you...

Someone is harrassing me. What can I do?

At FADS anything over 3 winks to one profile is considered SPAM, and will not be tolerated. So we have built in a few options for you to deal with problems of this nature.

• You can block the member from contacting you. To do this from the wink email click on the link provided. On the profile page there is a button which allows you to block a member. Use this to permanently block this member. The FADS system will then not permit messages from this member to be transmitted to you. Please note that this is a permanent block and can not be removed.
• You can report the member to FADS member services. From most anywhere in the site, click on the "Report Abuse" button to report a member that is abusing the system (including SPAM). This will be investigated by member services and dealt with appropriately..

When can I disclose personal information?

You are welcome to disclose personal information any time, using the FADS messenger service. However for security reasons (yours and ours) we have implemented a system which protects your privacy. As such to get your personal information disclosed (or to get personal information) you must wink to the member you wish to contact, using the wink service. The recipient will then have the option to reply or wink back to you. If the recipient does so (with permission for you to reply) you may disclose personal information using the FADS messenger service, without any restrictions.

We would like to invite you to visit our Favourite Links section. We are doing our best to find and list places for you to go to, categorized by city. Also if you know of a place that is not listed here please let us know so we can contact them and arrange a listing.

I am struggling with my email verification?

There are basically two reasons why you might be struggling with this aspect :

• Your email address is incorrect :
  To fix this log in using your chosen handle and password. Until you have verified, after login you will automatically be directed to a page where you can resend the verification request, and or change your email address (in case this was wrong), and then resend the verification request.
• I am simply not getting the email :
  SPAM Filters are notorious for killing even the mails that you want. So please make sure that your SPAM filters (both on your computer, and at your ISP) does not block emails from FADS. YOU CAN REST ASSURED THAT FADS WILL NEVER SPAM YOU....
• Last resort (if all has failed) :
  The only other option left for you would be to create an email address at on of the free email hosts (like Gmail, or MSN, or Yahoo etc -there are a dime a dozen) and then use this for your login email. However remember that you still need to check this email regularly, otherwise you will not get you correspondence from other FADS members.

The photo on my profile is too small

We apologize for the limitation in photo size, however since all member features on this website is completely free, we have to manage out costs very carefully, and since hosting of larger and more photos are expensive, we are at this time unable to do so.

However, we do wish to ask that you refer as many of your friends as possible, as more members likely mean that we could earn some decent advertising revenues, making it possible for us to offer more and larger photo storage space, as well as add a number of new and exciting features that we are planning to make available to our members on this site in future.

Also I would like to invite you to have a a look at our Chatbox / Blogger. If you wish to upload some promotional photos of yourself, here is a good place to do so. Also the photo limit is bigger (50kb), so there is a little more room to play...

I would like to cancel my FADS account

Firstly we would be sorry to see you go, and hope that we will see you some time in the future. However you can keep in mind that this is free, and as such holds no risk to you the member, so why not just stay on...

If you however still wish to cancel this is how to go about it :

• If you have fully completed a profile :
  • Log in, using your user name and password.
  • The system will direct you straight to "Play central" page.
  • On the left of this page there are a number of buttons, and adds. The last button at the bottom (a small red button) says "Close Account on FADS".. Click on this button.
  • This will take you to a Warning page.
  • At the bottom of this page there is a gray button that says "Yes please close my FADS account". IF you are sure you wish to delete your account, click on this button, and your account will be permanently deleted from our systems. Once you have done this, your access to the system will also be terminated 100%, and all information regarding you will be deleted 100%.
• If you have not completed a profile :
  • You do not need to do anything to get cancelled. Your membership record will be automatically deleted by our system within approximately 2 weeks.
